Favorite Thing - YELP my go-to app

Favorite thing. Can it be anything? Can it be a non-tangible?

I do take my "favorite thing" posts very seriously. Something I love. Something I would share with my BFF. This is important to me!

As you know I have been on the road…a lot! 

Hotels gross me out, navigating strange towns makes me stressed, and I loathe fast food. McDonald's IS good for a $1. large unsweetened iced tea…but that's another story!

And honestly, we all know you can only Google so much!

I introduce you to YELP. This app is my go to for EVERYthing!

Why?

I can find pretty much anything from drug stores to pizza places to movie theaters. I can see whats nearby and I know exactly how far it is from where I'm "yelping". But not only that! It's review based. So I know where NOT to go!

In the past few weeks I have found quaint bakeries, crazy good froyo, and some of the best pizza I've ever eaten. Places I would have never found on my own. Places off the main drag and tourist areas. Places whose reviews from real people drew me in!

When I spent two weeks in San Francisco last January, YELP was my constant companion. Goal? Eat healthy. Bigger goal? Eat cheap. Badaboom badabing....goal accomplished!

Washington DC? ZING! I found exactly what we needed!

Cincinnati? B I N G O! Hello pizza and Heath Bar coffee cake! Ok, so we don't ALWAYS eat healthy...but it wasn't fast food, right? Don't judge!

The more a city uses Yelp, the better it is, but it works everywhere none the less. Download the app and create an account. It's free. It's easy.

Downside. You need to do profile editing from the website, best done from a "real computer", not your phone. And to add your own review, which I HIGHLY recommend, you also need to be non mobile.

Cool features? You can add your friends from other social media and see where they check in and what is their fav places. You can find "deals" around you. Find some place you want to go? First it tells you how far it is from your current location, then instantly maps it out! I like maps. A lot.

One of my favorite features is the monacle. When you click on search to see what's nearby it gives you the option of monacle. This is when you look a bit like a creeper but it's so cool it's worth it. You hold up your "cellular device" and scan the area. What's around you pops up on your screen! Sahweet!

Needless to say when I offer you a "favorite thing" believe me, it's something I believe in, something I don't want to live without.
