Thankful Thursday

This is a new idea for my blog. An exercise in gratitude. A chance to be thankful.

I've heard (and tried) the idea of a gratitude journal. I LOVE the idea. You write down 3 things everyday that you are grateful for. But the task was daunting and became more of a burden that I wasn't so thankful for.

What if?

What if, on Thursday, you write down ONE thing you are grateful for from the past week. ONE THING. It doesn't have to be something huge. It doesn't have to be something with a huge WOW factor. But something YOU are grateful for.

I helps me to "say it". To write it down. Because at that point you have already spent time thinking about it, you actually will recall several things to be grateful for...but no huge pressure to categorize it into another "to do" thing.

So for this first Thursday of expressing gratitude...I am thankful for
It is so good to be home again after being away from my family!

  1. I'm thankful that my Mom, 84 years old and (quit) counting, has come through a rough patch with flying colors and will soon come home from the hospital.

  2. I'm thankful for a huge family dinner with all my kids and their families back home around the dining room table this week enjoying good food, family and laughter right smack in the middle of the week. In the busyness of life, this is what is precious to me.

  3. I am thankful for sweet notions, especially unexpected ones, like perhaps earrings in my mailbox. Even with the little sentiments you made me smile and warmed my heart! What an amazing and thoughtful person you are. I wish everyone I came into contact with and worked with had your heart.
