Thankful Thursday - the Valentines Day version

Week five of Thankful Thursday. An exercise in gratitude. A chance to be thankful.

I've heard (and tried) the idea of a gratitude journal. I LOVE the idea. You write down 3 things everyday that you are grateful for. But the task was daunting and became more of a burden that I wasn't so thankful for.

What if?

What if, on Thursday, you write down ONE thing you are grateful for from the past week. ONE THING. It doesn't have to be something huge. It doesn't have to be something with a huge WOW factor. But something YOU are grateful for.

I helps me to "say it". To write it down. Because at that point you have already spent time thinking about it, you actually will recall several things to be grateful for...but no huge pressure to categorize it into another "to do" thing.

So for this FIFTH Thursday of expressing gratitude and the week before Valentines Day I am thankful for....

PETS specifically, my dogs.

It's part of another post I'm writing today...a "I wanna know what LOVE is post" that today focuses on our pets. But I AM grateful for my dogs. They make me smile. They make me laugh. They protect my home. They love me even at my most unlovable...and hey, THAT is a big deal!

What are YOU grateful for today?

  1. I am thankful that not only does God come through in the fullness of His time, but that He has an incredible sense of humor. Lots of laughter this week because of how good He is!

  2. I am thankful for my husband. A sermon at church this weekend helped us really think about some things and keep pushing forward. He is a great man and we are led by an awesome God.
