Adoption and a Token

Many years ago I was inspired to design a bracelet that depicted the journey a family goes through on their path to adoption.  In no way did I assume this was everyone's path. This was just the idea that was laid on my heart after hearing stories via friends etc.

What I love about this bracelet is far more than the design...it's the symbolism embedded within. Each bracelet comes with a card describing the journey I tried to depict in metal. The card reads:
Designed as a reminder of all that your family has become or is in the process of becoming. With a sweet story telling the meaning of each piece of the bracelets meaning...a story card is included with EACH bracelet.

It begins with a prayer... a dream... a wish... placed inside the prayer box. A prayer for a child to be your very own, to love and cherish, to guide, to give a home and a future. While you are praying, wishing, dreaming you are three strands: a mother, a father and a child... each on your own personal journey... waiting to become something stronger together.

The dream becomes a reality, there is a child who will soon be your very own - that is represented by the Baby Feet and Heart charm. Once that child arrives he or she becomes your family. You are no longer separate but you have been brought together - this is represented by the Family Tree charm as well as the three strands becoming a Solid Bangle on the bracelet. There will be memories and milestones to come as you go through life together, no two days will ever be the same - thus the mixture of beads and twisted wire.

All of this is reason to Celebrate! This is an answer to prayer, this is pure joy, this is a dream come true! Celebrate! and never forget the journey of how you became a family!
Most recently a customer asked me to create for her a couple special tokens to gift her adopted children at their graduation. She was so passionate about the phrases she chose and so excited about gifting them, I decided to add them to our token line

They are two sided 1" in diameter pieces of sterling silver. A perfect size and weight. The hand stamped text gently swirls in to complete one of two phrases, but of course, we always enjoy hearing what YOU want something to say!

Phrase one says: "not flesh of my flesh nor bone of my bone, but still miraculously my own" I love that!
Phrase two says: "never forget for a single minute, that you grew not under my heart but in it" Again...LOVE!

Maybe you have a special phrase of your own. Maybe your own adoption story. I'd love to know what makes your adopted family so special.
BE creative!

  1. My sister in law is finalizing her adoption and that bracelet sounds like a very meaningful and wonderful gift. I will definitely keep that in mind.

  2. it's been almost 7 years since I met my daughter in China! For me, I always KNEW I was going to adopt a little girl from China, God truly put it on my heart when I was 8 or 9 years old! Then I saw a birth movie in science class and KNEW I was NEVER gonna do that- yikes! Adoption means everything to me, it has been the BEST choice of my life!!
