A Call to Action - Helping Those Affected by the Tornado

Maybe this is a bit crazy. Maybe I'll be vastly disappointed. But just maybe, maybe...we can make a difference together.

Unless you live in a box, you have been overwhelmed by the damage done by the tornadoes in Missouri. Each time I hear a new story, or see new pictures I am brought to tears. Tears for their loss. Tears for their devastation. Tears of anger. Questions of why?

But what good is my sorrow, what good are my tears if I do nothing? It's easy to say our hearts are broken. To tell how bad we feel. But what can we DO?

I briefly mentioned my heartache on my Facebook Fan page. A woman, a fan, a friend, stepped up and mentioned an organization she was going to GO help this week. She was taking an active step. I asked her if she knew if there was anything I could do hundreds of miles away.

Immediately, she sent me a list of items they desperately need....NOW. My family and I are going to go purchase what we can to fill boxes up this weekend. My small group from church has graciously offered to help as well.

Here's your action step. I know many of you don't KNOW me personally, so this may seem like an odd request. But truly? I don't know what else to do. And I don't want to wait to figure it out. They need our help. They need our donations. They have significant needs NOW.

If you would be so inclined to send me a donation at StudioJewel, we will take your donation and buy the items needed to fill the boxes. No, I can't give you a tax write off certificate. Yes, I know this is a far fetched request. I guess I'm asking you to trust me. For those of you who know me...I know you will vouch for me. For those of you who don't...I understand.

The organization we are sending our donations to is The Office of Human Concern Family Resource Center. They are located in Rogers, Arkansas. Here is the list of items they need:

• pillows
• sheets
• tarps
• hammers &nails
• towels & wash cloths
• brushes & combs
• baby formula, diapers & wipes
• new socks & underwear

So please, will you step out of your comfort zone? Will you help me take action? EVERY little bit will help....remember the song "Change" by Carrie Underwood I posted a few weeks ago? This is your chance to help be THAT change.
