Helping Those Affected by the Tornadoes in Joplin

Day 2 of my efforts to collect goods and / or donations to purchase goods for the tornado victims. I am encouraged and yet discouraged. I just want to help.
Thank you to all of you who have taken an active step forward and said "I want to make a difference".

The plan is to go shopping today and tomorrow and purchase the items they need and pack up boxes this weekend, and ship them out on Monday.

If you are local and have some things to drop off, just let me know. You can either bring them to my home or we can meet in the parking lot of Blue Water Grill to "make the drop" on Friday. Or come to New City Church on Sunday morning and you can drop items off there as well.

If you missed the post yesterday and are unclear of what is needed here is a recap and a donation button. I will take your donations and purchase things from the list below and box them up to send. Please. Every single dollar helps.

Here's your action step. I know many of you don't KNOW me personally, so this may seem like an odd request. But truly? I don't know what else to do. And I don't want to wait to figure it out. They need our help. They need our donations. They have significant needs NOW.

If you would be so inclined to send me a donation at StudioJewel, we will take your donation and buy the items needed to fill the boxes. No, I can't give you a tax write off certificate. Yes, I know this is a far fetched request. I guess I'm asking you to trust me. For those of you who know me...I know you will vouch for me. For those of you who don't...I understand.

The organization we are sending our donations to is The Office of Human Concern Family Resource Center. They are located in Rogers, Arkansas. Here is the list of items they need:
  • water
  • sports drinks
  • first aid supplies
  • cleaning supplies
  • flash lights
  • batteries
  • blankets
  • pillows
  • sheets
  • tarps
  • hammers and nails
  • towels and wash cloths
  • brushes & combs
  • baby formula, diapers and wipes
  • new socks and underwear

So please, will you step out of your comfort zone? Will you help me take action? EVERY little bit will help....remember the song "Change" by Carrie Underwood I posted a few weeks ago? This is your chance to help be THAT change.

gratefully,
lisa
