Since it is my birthday week I feel like I can be a bit narcissistic and it will be accepted. Well I guess you don't really have a choice do you? I suppose you can choose to read or not read....ANYway.
I am a youngest child and an only child (much older siblings) AND I am an artist. That combo makes for a bit of quirkiness in personality. I'll admit it. Sometimes I can just be plain ole weird.
So here are a few things I might be a bit strangely obsessed about.
- Watching the news. It's routine. It signals "I quit" for the day.
- Knowing the weather. Which is stupid... Michigan = cold and grey
- Not having my toes painted. Yes, even in the winter.
- Leaving the house without jewelry. Someone might ask me {gasp}
- Making sure my children's teeth are brushed. ( i mean really, this is just basic hygiene people!)
- Calories in beverages. Seriously, why waste your daily allotment on a drink?
- Having my sink void of dishes. Oh the joy of an empty sink.
- Slipcovers. When I have them on my furniture...which I LOATHE...they have to be just right or it drives me absolutely crazy!
- My hair. Shallow? I know. But it's been curly my whole life and a constant battle and it just has a mind of its own. Oh, leave me alone!
- Making the perfect top 10 list. I have sat and not published for over an hour because I don't have a #10. How stupid is that?
On that note, we move onto more important things....like me and my birthday! Really, I'm not USUALLY this self obsessed. :)
Here's the deal, in staying with theme - the narcissistic part, visit one of my other top 10 posts and tell me something about me that totally resonates with you.
Do you have any of the same dreams and wishes that I do?
Do you share any of the same struggles in business?
What about my random facts? Can you relate?
Pick something, come back and share here in the comments (don't forget to leave an email!) and you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate. Good for anything you desire in my shop!
Maybe these earrings? They are very September girl like! I LOVE them!
Go forth and play my silly little game. Maybe you will be the winner today! And really, thank you for playing along :) I {heart} all of you!
and don't forget....
BE creative!

Happy Birthday Lisa :)
ReplyDeleteI totally relate to your hate of the phone. I used to work in customer service and was on the phone all day long. Literally. After leaving that job I now cannot stand the phone, hate talking on it and wish people would just email me instead. In fact, if it weren't for my fear that I'd need to call 911 and not be able to, I wouldn't even *have* a phone.
And feet. Yes'm. Super yucko are the feets!

Oh, I definitely empathize with wanting acres of land, a farmhouse studio (although in my case it would be a study, for writing), chickens, minions (to take care of the chickens, because I love fresh eggs but am NOT a fan of chickens themselves, and yes I speak from experience), and DOUBLE OVENS. And someone to clean my house for me. Naturally!
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to dream, isn't it?
(email is elouise.bates@gmail.com)
Oh how EXCITING!! Your "dreams & wishes" post definitely resonated with me. Being a small town TX girl my dream was to be a vet, own land & have all sorts of animals, a huge garden, and of course an old step-side pickup. God had other plans for me and that's ok. I do have an old farmhouse, lots of kids & animals (smaller feline kind), a small garden, & a Suburban. I still want chickens & a goat, though. Life is pretty good. Loved your post & love reading your blog! And of course LOVE your jewelry! Quirkiness has always been part of my personality and I love it in others. cclark3459@austin.rr.com :)
ReplyDeleteI have to have a clean sink and always take off my jewelry upon coming home too! Why is that? I thought I was the only one who did that! I finally have a great garden and double ovens but would love fresh eggs from a chicken coop in the morning. And I've completely given up on perfectly manicured hands. Think it has something to do with my empty sink obsession! Hah! I'm so glad to know we're kindred spirits in so many of our fabulous quirks! No wonder why I love you so! :) tech savvy mama at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI love peanut butter too!I ate so much of it when I was pregnant my girl doesn't like it. (strange child) :) have you ever had a peanut butter and bacon sandwich?
ReplyDeleteYeah. Dreams & Wishes. And Land. I've always wanted to own land - maybe even to grow stuff.
ReplyDeletexoxoxox
Happy Birthday to you!
ReplyDeleteI used to obsess about not having my toes painted. (Not any more, I gave up on nail polish all together)
I completely agree that you shouldn't waste calories on a drink.
I hate the phone - exactly as you described! I'll put off making appointments because of the phoneaphobia. (I now have a list of calls to make - which I plan on doing Friday. See? I have to set a date in which to make calls, otherwise I never would.)
Oh, and the bit that resonated the most? I was almost named Amy! My dad changed it to Rachel the night before I was born. He wanted me to be loved by my future husband as much as the Rachel in the Bible was.
I desire acres of land, a garden, chickens and a cleaning lady too! And I do not like to wear jewelry in the house either!!! I only wear it when I leave! I loved your top 10 lists, those were great to read. And they've inspired me to do one on my blog sometime soon! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Lisa, so I hate the phone too. I communicate via email and facebook usually. I also usually have nail polish on my toes (even in winter time) and I think your top 10 list is great. I am the same about dishes in the sink, drives me crazy. It just makes the rest of the kitchen look untidy right? I wish I had a live in Chef, I really don't mind cleaning:)
ReplyDeleteI really hate talking on the phone. When I was in HS & college I LOVED it to talk to boyfriend, family & friends. Now. I would rather have a real face to face conversation!

Happy Birthday.! I love the Stacking birthstone set and Liked it on my FB too. email: ItCanWork@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHappy new year.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to your curly hair. I finally learned to accept mine and have learned to make the most of it. The bigger, the wilder, the better. Most of the time I can't see it anyway, others do!
Purple, peanut butter, feet. We are twinsies. Amazon woman who is agressive on the court......not so much..... :)
ReplyDeleteFrom your dreams post: "A farmhouse style studio with big windows on those acres of land overlooking my horses." While I could do w/o the horses (I know the care and maintenance of them would fall to ME) I would LOVE to have a "studio" or office in a big old farmhouse where I could write, overlooking my land where my kids play. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your narcissism! Makes for some interesting posts! Okay, this is shallow, but I totally resonate with your dream of perfectly manicured nails. For me, that represents a life that isn't filled with dishes and changing diapers and folding laundry and cleaning house - all the worst parts for me about having young children and staying at home. Urgh.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!
I'm totally phone-a-phobic too! I can't imagine how people sit and chat on the phone for an hour! Texting is perfect because it gives me time to think of a response and maybe delete a few before I press send.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday week!! When we're kids we have had so few experiences that a birthday can be celebrated in the course of a single day. As adults we've got so many memories that a birthday really does take a whole week. Those amazing people who live to celebrate 100+ should definitely take a full 2 weeks.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am weather obsessed. I'm not allowed to watch the weather channel because I can waste a whole day. It's something about Mother Nature's fickleness paired with the perky meteorologists and completely random commercials that sucks me in. This past weekend's visit from Irene was so interesting to follow.
Love the post about depression that you did, and feel the same about the sink and nails, curly hair and talking on the phone. Also, the jewelry in the house, mine comes off the minute I walk in. Maybe it's the September girl thing....:). I just realized that you and I share the same birthday!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, I plan too also!

Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a phone person either...I just hate holding the thing next to my ear. If/when I do talk on the phone I usually use speaker phone so I can do other stuff while talking. I also love peanut butter (and almond butter)! I make jewelry too so I feel really naked leaving the house without wearing some of it :)
I have to say - I hate the phone :) Even though my job requires me (sometimes) to call customers... Its one thing I love about being the manager.. I can assign most of those calls to one of my techs :)
ReplyDeletebrenjlane at yahoo.com
Love your wishes list! I often dream of having a huge farm house and the next minute I want a cute little apartment and then four minutes later I want an old style plantation. I tend to change my mind. A lot.
ReplyDeleteI relate to hating feet. I love to be barefoot but pretty much think feet are disgusting. Lucky for me thoug I have a husband that does not hate feet. He loves giving foot massages. He also makes sire all te roug spots are gone.
ReplyDeleteYour business struggles = my life struggles.
ReplyDeleteespecially lately.
*sigh*
I can totally relate to your business struggles. I have a small shop on Etsy and I think I've faced every one of your Top 10 Struggles in Business! Somehow I keep going on. I guess it's because I love what I do. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great birthday!
2littlebluebirds@gmail.com
I think you need to come over to my house and be "obsessive" about my sink being empty. I can't remember the last time there weren't dishes in my sink.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you need these for your slipcover. http://www.potterybarn.com/products/loose-fit-tailoring-set/?pkey=e%7Cslipcover%7C7%7Cbest%7C4294967293%7C1%7C24%7C%252Fslipcover%252Faccessories-pillows%7C7&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH||Category-_-Accessories%20%26%20Pillows-_-NoMerchRules-_-
They're AWESOME!
I relate completely to your top 10 struggles in business. Especially these:
ReplyDeleteI am not talented enough.
Fear of failure.
Fear of success.
They won't read it...why bother?
Comparison to others doing my same craft.
What if no one will buy anything today?
Happy birthday!

Happy birthday mom!
ReplyDeletehave fun being narcissistic!
and yes, you DO obsess over brushing our teeth!
love you!
I don't rhink it was a top ten post, but your post on depression resonated with me. You are so beautiful, and knowing that even you struggle with some of the same issues I do made me love you even more. :)
ReplyDeleteSo funny!!
ReplyDeleteLeaving the house without jewelry for sure
also the weather every morning!!
Never leave the house without my cell
Be at work on time:-)
Have a nice day
Melanie Robillard
I must say... I look forward to reading your post every day! There is always something I can relate to. If someone were to ask me what my favorite color is, I'd reply 'purple'. However no one would know it. I don't wear it, I don't craft with it, and it's no where in my house. Every now and then I'll paint my nail purple, but that's about it. :0) Watching the new and knowing (or thinking you know) the weather is a must before I go to bed. The fear of starting an Etsy shop overwhelms me every day... You inspire me... you're real and tell it how it is. I would LOVE to one day be able to bead jewelry for a living. Your recent post that talked about tips about being successful really spoke to me.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy Hump Day, it's almost birthday time... YAY!
oliversinspiredmama@yahoo.com
Happy Bithday!! I feel better knowing I'm not the only one obsessing over painted toes - even in the winter! And currently I'm obsessing over your stacked rings - http://www.etsy.com/listing/55347916/a-sterling-silver-stack-of-4-individual
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the empty sink. It's especially nice first thing in the morning! I l.o.v.e the mixed-metal eternity circle necklace!
ReplyDeleteI just saw this link on Twitter and came by to see what your giveaway was about. Then I felt drawn to your Depression/Hebrew post, and man, oh, man, I am so glad that I read this. That. Your words. I'm sorry you had such the experience, but how beautiful and how touching. That totally resonated with me, and I am thinking I need that ring. Or at the very least something like it. Thank you for the reminder, and the beauty you've created. And sharing it with us all.
ReplyDeleteI relate to you in so many ways. Not everything though, that's what makes us perfect friends. :) As far as your shop, I love everything, but if I had to choose it would be a ring. I'd have trouble choosing between the square ring and the daisy chain ring. Happy birthday!!! Lisa~
ReplyDeleteI love your birthstone ring set, and the peridot necklace, and the sapphire ring... How would I pick?
ReplyDeleteI'm working hard to get in on one of these giveaways! I love so many things in your shop!! And the top 10 ... business struggles ... how do I pick one? The fear of failure ... and success ... and balance ... definitely my top three. :) Happy Birthday Week!
ReplyDeleteI started reading your post, the first post I read about was about depression. I loved everything you wrote and could relate. I have been hooked to your blog ever since! You seem to be a wonderful person and create meaningful pieces, and I hope to own some soon.

I resignate w/ almost everything on your last post. Slight case of OCD, quite possibly! But none the less.....it's all fine by me in my little world:) I love ALL your work and have SO many things on my wish list! However today I have realized I definately need your four strand silver/gold rings. I had a very favorite that I wore on my thumb and w/ four inter-twining silver strands and only had one left as it was so old three of them had snapped/broke. And today the last one remaining finally broke :( So sad!! Jules---pizzalasunshine@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteOh, the phone thing, most definitely. I hate, loathe, despise the phone. Well, not the phone really, just talking on it. I love my smartphone, I love connecting with friends on FB, Twitter, email, or texting, I just hate talking on it. Do you suppose I have a problem?
ReplyDeleteAnd here I thought I was completely narcissistic for celebrating my Birthday for a whole week...who knew?? I mean...good grief one day is for regular people...I'M SPECIAL so I GET A WHOLE WEEK!!LOL..I could not decide on my fav top ten because honest to goodness(no LIE) I related to EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM...could you be a long lost sister(never met my real biological Dad) but your Business Top Ten I could have wrote myself and Your "Dreams" one...yes IN THAT EXACT ORDER TOO!!
ReplyDeleteThis is sooo freaky, I tell ya!! I'd like to wish you a Happy Birthday and if chosen(which NEVER happens) I'd probably want to somehow donate to someone here in Oklahoma City where we are on fire now and people have lost their homes and possessions today and yesterday. I really enjoyed getting to know a little more about you!!Thanks GF!! Donna
Lisa, too many fabulous things in your shop, but love the shining star token
ReplyDeletehttp://www.etsy.com/listing/65910458/handmade-custom-stamped-you-are-a
those earrings are stunning too!
obsess:
weather
yes, feel naked without jewelry
HAIR
hearing the right jazz
I totally relate to your love of coffee. Though I can't drink it black. And I love Swedish Fish!
ReplyDeleteYee gads!! Were you reading my diary when you came up with the top 10 struggles in business??? I look at all the talented artists out there and I feel like that 4 year old girl, with tangled hair, and a runny nose .... and she's just wet her pants. This probably explains why I would pick ...http://www.etsy.com/listing/73120279/hebrew-ring-hand-stamped-in-sterling
