It's Thursday the desire of my heart is to do a Thankful Thursday post. My haeart is so full of gratitude. But...one thing i am thankful for this week, is actually something I newly discovered and I LOVE! So I doing a combo post called Thankful Things I LOVE. Bear with me!
And what is this "thing" I am so thankful for? So glad you asked!
BOOKS and Shelfari on Amazon
As a homeschool mom we read...a lot. It's actually one of the reasons I enjoy teaching. The curriculum we use is so literature rich. I get to read, did you see that, I GET to read amazing books that I probably glossed over in school. And to see the "love reading" light go on in my children's eyes, well that is priceless.
There is not one moment in our home where you cannot find a child sitting with a book. They even ask how long car rides will be and base their reading on that. Seriously. Longer then 4 minutes and there is a book in hand.
Me? I don't get to read "for fun" the way I used to. It's not a matter of desire. It's a matter of time. There are only so many hours in the day this mama can work full time, teach full time and try to be a good manager of my home. Just like my want for kayaking, book reading for pleasure has been put aside.
But that doesn't mean I don't read. Oh baby, I read. How to do this. How to build this. How to be an entrepreneur. Don't roll your eyes! This is my current bedside stack.
When I discovered Shelfari on Amazon I was hooked. A virtual bookshelf. I can put books I've read, currently reading or desire to read! *squeeeeee* It's so cool!
I've decided to include books we've read...and loved...for school, as well as books my kids have read and loved. Their opinions on books are so important. So my profile is in the very beginning stages, but feel free to bookmark and visit often. I am fairy sure my girls will update with their book selections OFTEN!

What a great idea! I'll have to look into Shelfari. I am terrible at keeping up with my Goodreads account, but this sounds a little more manageable.
ReplyDeleteAs for what I'm reading - working my way through Deborah Mitford's memoir Wait For Me! and thoroughly enjoying the glimpse it gives into what life was like for English upper-class in the '30s through today, and how things changed. Fascinating!
And because as a soon-to-be-homeschooling mom I'm always curious about such things ... what curriculum do you use?
