My Favorite Things...a guest post

My name is Audrey - I'm a mommy to the cutest one year old boy and a very large, very hairy dog...so I know a thing or two about cleaning up messes. When I'm not raving about my favorite cleaning products you can usually find me in the kitchen baking cupcakes. And then promptly stuffing my face with them. I might have a problem.

I do not enjoy cleaning - I mean, really...who does? But I have discovered an EcoFriendly product line that may just get you excited to scrub your toilet...well, almost.

Let me give you a little background story – my husband recently read the book The Method Method: Seven Obsessions That Helped Our Scrappy Start-up Turn an Industry Upside Down while he was reading it more for the business information(you know corporate culture and other boring things), the tidbits he passed along to me had me intrigued. Intrigued about cleaning...you heard me. And so, a revolution has begun in my home.

On a typical day in the past you could find multiple cleansers, wipes, disinfectants and the like under my kitchen sink. But today – you'll find just three products.

Method Antibacterial Kitchen Cleaning Spray Lemon Verbena, 28-Ounce (Pack of 8). Incredibly powerful, this spray is awesome for general cleaning in the kitchen and kills 99.9% of household bacteria. Plus, it smells like summer. Yes, summer. This awesome cleaning product rings up around $3.99.

The Method glass cleaner intrigued me because it is ammonia free. Instead of stinky ammonia it has a pleasant mint scent and this stuff works. Streak free on glass and unbelievably deep cleaning on surfaces. And at only $3.99 a bottle at my local Target it checks out cheaper than a bottle of Windex.

Method Antibac Antibacterial All Purpose Cleaning & Disinfecting Wipes-Orange Zest-35 ct  These also cost $3.99 and with only 35 wipes in the container may seem more expensive than the leading antibacterial wipe, but these are definitely a better value. One wipe can be used to clean so much! They're a soft cloth-like wipe and they just keep going. Have I mentioned yet how yummy all of the products smell?

My true testament to how wonderful this product is...well, it's a smelly one. In October (remember THAT, October) my dog was sprayed by a skunk and managed to make a lap around our living room before he was shooed out the garage. The scent, or stench rather, permeated our house...every inch of it. Weeks of cleaned ensued and the smell finally left us, or so I thought. A few weeks ago when I converted to the Method products I got a little carried away with the Glass & Surface cleaner and started wiping down everything I could get my hands on. As I began wiping down my TV stand what did I smell? Skunk. As horrid memories ran through my mind I was shocked to realize that this amazing product was cleaning so deeply that it was eliminating a smell that had settled into this piece of furniture four months ago, after multiple cleaning attempts.

How could you not love that? Plus – the entire philosophy behind the Method company is an amazing one. These products are ecofriendly and the packaging is super stylish. And, the cabinet under my kitchen sink looks so organized with just three things in there! I may not love cleaning yet, but I definitely love Method and it's certainly one of my favorite things.

PS – if you're interested in trying a few other Method products, I'm equally in love with their laundry detergent, Fabric Softner and bathroom wipes Bathroom Wipes .

Happy Cleaning!

  1. OK, I finally had a few minutes to search the blog for your entry that I had missed. So off I will head for my cleaning products with a gentler effect on my household and a powerful cleaning ability. Thanks for blogging. I might even use them as soon as I get home. :)
